The purpose of air conditioning is to ensure comfort, to regulate the temperature and air flow in a space to make being in that space more tolerable. Where is this more important than in a person's home? To truly understand the importance of air conditioning a person has to experience a true heat-wave. In many parts of the country this summer there were record temperatures and resulting misery.

The degree to which heat can affect a person's quality of life is unimaginable to those people who have never had to live for extended periods without air conditioning. In temperatures above a hundred degrees Fahrenheit, a simple electric fan is not enough. It can affect everything from the ability to work, to personal health. A fan may move air around, but it does nothing lower temperatures and ease the sweltering discomfort.

The importance of air conditioning in a summer where heat records are broken, air conditioning moves from being a mere luxury to being an absolute necessity, especially if there are young children or senior citizens in the household. In a bad economy and with fuel costs high, many people are just getting by and an increase in the amount they pay for power can greatly affect a household's budget. Of course, for many people, the main concern is the utility bill. They need to take into account the cost of not having an air conditioner.

The sleepless hours the risk of heat stroke, the other risks, to the health of family members, includes pets. It is something that must be included among the necessities in a household budget. It is clear that the comfort of a home has to be a priority, whether this means purchasing a new air conditioning unit, or fixing a broken one. Air conditioning maintenance tips In order to need to have to live without air conditioning in summer, certain basic maintenance steps should be taken to ensure that the longevity of a unit. Some may require the assistance of a heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technician, but in some cases a homeowner can do these checks without assistance.

The refrigerant is what cools the air Clear any grass, dirt or leaves that may have fallen on or around the part of the air conditioning system located outdoors. Check the filters and replace if necessary. Calibrate the thermostat to ensure that it is cooling to the correct temperature. . Not enough refrigerant and the air conditioning system will be less effective than it could be.
